Com qualsevol altra ressaca, la de la
Setmana Santa es cura només amb el temps i el repòs. Després de la ingesta
continuada de pel·lícules bíbliques i sermons televisats i de veure famílies
senceres carregades amb creus i espelmes a les 4 del matí de camí al
Botafumeiro (un misteri encara per resoldre però que put a secta) esperava
poder lliurar el meu petit cor a Belcebú sense que ningú m’emprenyés més. Però
les llargues nits d’insomni (pensant encara en els ulls d’aquells nens de
matinada) m’han brindat un regal de fi de festa que, tot i acabar-me d’enfonsar
en l’ateisme, m’ha semblat documentalment interessant.
Al segle XI, en el context de les
creuades, s’institucionalitzaren al llarg d’Europa les primeres ordes militars
de cavalleria, organitzacions religioso-militars dedicades inicialment a la
defensa de llocs sagrats i la propagació de la fe cristiana. D’això fa
exactament 1000 anys, el temps que fa que els suecs eren pirates amb barrets de
banyes i que els alemanys del sacre imperi parlaven llatí. Avui, els suecs són
gent respectable i els alemanys parlen un idioma inventat, però, per estrany
que sembli, encara queden no pocs cavallers d’ordes militars. I el documental
emès al “Sense Ficció” del dilluns 1 d’Abril ensenya els protagonistes d’aquest
moviment avui en dia, aquí, allà, i arreu d’Europa.
Principals ordes militar de cavalleria
Ordes Militars, segueix la llegenda (2012) ens
presenta la cara i la creu d’aquestes institucions, intensament lligades al
cristianisme: la cara, gens menyspreable, és la tasca social que desenvolupen
els militants d’aquestes ordes, lligades tradicionalment a la beneficència i al
suport material als més necessitats; la creu, sens dubte, és el caràcter
inapel·lablement retrògrada i classista del seu discurs, enfonsat en una forma
de fe que es perd en la foscor dels temps, que té en compte els llinatges, els
cognoms i els diners per sobre de qualsevol altra cosa.
A Àustria, Alemanya i Txecoslovàquia,
Hitler va suprimir d’arrel l’ordre Teutònic del Monjos guerrers de la creu
negra (un nom de molt bon rotllo), sota la consigna que l’ordre Teutònic era
ell mateix. Va apropiar-se de la seva insígnia que col·locà al costat de la
creu gamada, presumptament davant l’horror dels seus membres ordenats. Després
de la guerra, l’orde es va restaurar, abandonant la vessant cavalleresca per
convertir-se en una d’exclusivament religiosa.
A Espanya, en canvi, els grans oligarques
de la tradició encara s’agenollen sota l’espasa al més pur estil Cantar de
Gesta. Destaquen les ordes de Malta i del Sant Sepulcre, així com els
personatges grotescos i malparits que es fan anomenar cavallers i que surten de
casa seva conduint un Porsche per coordinar les activitats caritatives de les
prop de 10 ordes a les quals pertanyen. De fet, ni tan sols proven d’amagar què contempla el seu ideal cavalleresc: “Lo que
se busca es la nobleza personal: una intelectualidad y un nivel económico
porque se tiene que responder económicamente a las necesidades en lo que se le

Moltes coses han canviat en els últims
1000 anys, però encara queda feina per fer. El pa amb tomàquet no s’ha
internacionalitzat i sembla que les històries de cavallers i profetes encara no
han passat de moda. No puc evitar pensar que aquells nens que sortien entonats
de l’Església de matinada sabien més de tot això del que el meu curt llinatge
em permetrà saber mai. En tot cas, el documental, televisiu i funcional, aporta
una mica de llum sobre aquest tema, més fosc que el bigoti de la Pantoja.

Like any other hangover, the Easter’s
hangover can only be cured with time and rest. After continuous intake of
Biblical films and televised sermons, and after seeing families carrying crosses
and candles at 4 a.m. on their way to one of the most expensive restaurants in
Barcelona (still a mystery to solve but with a certain smell of sect) I hoped I
could peacefully give my little heart to Beelzebub and no one would disturb me any
more. But during my long sleepless nights (still thinking of the eyes of those
children in the morning) this week I’ve been given a final gift in the form of
a very interesting documentary, which has definitely sunk me into atheism.
In the eleventh century, in the context of the Crussades, military orders of chivalry were institutionalized around Europe, dedicated to the defense of sacred sites and the propagation of the Christian faith. That was exactly 1000 years ago, when the Swedes were pirates wearing hats with horns and the Germans of the Holy Roman Empire spoke Latin. Today, the Swedes are respectable people and Germans speak a an invented language, but oddly enough, there are still quite a few knights of military orders. And this documentary, broadcasted on Monday April 1st in the TVSHow “Sense Ficció” shows the protagonists of this movements today, here, there, and elsewhere in Europe.
Ordes Militars, segueix la llegenda (2012) presents the heads and tails of these institutions, strongly linked to Christianity. The face, not insignificant, is the social work developed by members of these orders, traditionally linked to the welfare and material support to the most needed; the cross is certainly the unquestionable retrograde character of the speech, sunk in a form of faith that is lost in the darkness of time which takes into account lineages, surnames and money above all else.
In Austria, Germany and Czechoslovakia, Hitler suppressed the Teutonic Order of the Warrior Monks of the Black Cross (a cheerful name), claiming that he himself was the Teutonic Order. He placed the teutonic cross next to the swastika, presumably to the horror of the members. After the war, the Order was restored, leaving the chivalrous character aside and becoming an organization with an exclusively religious character.
In Spain, however, the great oligarchs of tradition still kneel under a sword, medieval style. The orders of Malta and the Holy Sepulchre stand out here, as well as grotesque bastards who call themselves knights and leave their home driving a Porsche to coordinate the charity activities of the more than 10 orders they belong to. In fact, some don’t even attempt to hide what their knight ideal entails: "What we are looking for is nobility: an intellectual standard and a certain economic level, to be able to respond to the needs of the Order. Many things have changed in the last 1000 years, but there is still work to be done. The “pa amb tomàquet” hasn’t yet been internationalized and it seems that knights and prophets stories are still en vogue. I can not help thinking that those children leaving the church that night knew more about this than my short lineage will ever allow me to discover. Anyway, this documentary, televisual and functional, shines some light on this subject, darker than Pantoja’s mustache.
